GLOBAL WARMING

By Len A.Hynds

Every day we hear that frightened cry,
"We must try to stop, the heat-melting sky".
those vanishing ice-caps and rising sea,
less carbon emissions the daily plea.

The Mayans did forecast in days gone by,
what we dare not ignore, as much as we try.
The cruel danger from the rising seas,
and deserts would rise, where once we had trees.

Romney Marsh would be covered, gone for good,
at those farmsteads there, where families stood.
All those towns under water, Ham Street the beach,
our history gone, and all beyond reach.

We must surely protect this earth of ours.
